Rushing headlong toward accreditation and its first decade in existence, CSUMB is declared a "cool school" and finds a formula to "grow" new teachers for local elementary schools. The academic year sees the university's high-tech reputation get a shot in the arm with its new website going live and with the arrival of new electric cars on campus. The new Master's in Public Policy is implemented in January with the purpose of training CSUMB students to be, according to Leon Panetta, the "new generation of men and women . . . leaders."
